The season hasn’t officially come to an end yet and the Lightning Round Podcast is ready to move onto Free Agency already. The guys break down their Top 5 lists of Offensive and Defensive Free Agents that they think are the best fits for the Chargers. After giving 10 names each in order, they then choose a few off their lists that they think are not only attainable but would look for the Chargers to possibly sign in Free Agency.
To start it off, Garrett and Jamie share their offseason schedule covering Free Agency and the Draft, then as part of their second installment of the “Year End Review” the Lightning Round Podcast covers how the Chargers Defense played this past season. They cover all position groups and individual performances all the way down the depth chart. The guys also talk about the future of each position and if it’s a need going into the offseason. They finish it off answering questions about possible replacements for DC Gus Bradley, Free Agent QB fits for the Chargers, thoughts on adding Allen Robinson and their favorite sports movies.
Up top, you get to hear the exclusive trailer of the upcoming 30 for 30 film featuring one of the hosts from your favorite podcast – Garrett Sisti. The guys talk about this concise victory over the Redskins on Sunday and roll into Playoff scenarios for the Chargers. They then breakdown the swing game for the AFC West lead on Saturday against the Kansas City Chiefs and preview important in-game matchups. They end this show with questions about drafting a quarterback, Forrest Lamp’s injury, whether to extend Tyrell Williams and an up-to-date record prediction to end the year.
The Chargers defeat the Browns for their 3rd win in a row and are in a 3 way tied for 1st place in the AFC West. Garrett and Jamie talk about the incredible streak Keenan Allen has been on and how Hunter Henry is just a walking mismatch against the Browns Sunday. They then flip over to the other side of the ball and discuss the job the Defense did including a big play from Joey Bosa, the slot blitz that finally paid off for Desmond King and another defender who quietly had a great game you might not have noticed. The guys couldn’t take questions last week so they took a lot (too many?) questions to appease everyone and addressed what’s happening to Jatavis Brown, questions about the playoffs and if Jamie wants to walk back his comments about Philip Rivers.
The Chargers dismantled the Cowboys on Thanksgiving and Garrett and Jamie discuss all the dominant performances on Thursday including Philip Rivers and Keenan Allen. They also praise the defense and how Casey Hayward put on a clinic in cornerback play that game and of course the rookie Desmond King returning an interception for a 90 yard touchdown. After the Week 12 recap they preview this week’s game against the Browns including players to watch, matchups to look forward to and Offensive and Defensive gameplans against Cleveland.
The Chargers got a gigantic victory on Sunday behind the second most points they’ve scored in franchise history. The boys talk about how everything was going right against Buffalo and how it trickled down to a lot of the younger players too. They discuss the turnovers, Joey Bosa and Keenan Allen’s impact and of course they discuss the head-coaching elephant in the room – Sean McDermott. Garrett and Jamie take questions on what the Chargers could do if they didn’t draft a QB next year and predict wins and losses for the rest of the season and if they can ultimately make the playoffs.
